City descritpion

Strolling through the streets of Trieste, you might forget that you are in Italy. Between 1382 and 1919, the city was part of the Habsburg Monarchy which is still evident in the cityscape since many buildings resemble the architecture of Vienna, Budapest and Prague. But on the other hand, there is a distinct Southern flair which reminds you of where you are. When you visit the city, don’t miss the Roman amphitheater, the numerous churches and cathedrals and the historic café San Marco. North of Trieste, Miramare Castle which is beautifully situated on a cliff above the sea is worth a visit.
